Day 4: Reflection

We began Day 4 of RDS Training off with us as interns defining our roles in the school and in Digital Opportunity Trust. Three main topics that were discussed was consultant, pair of hands, and collaboration. In my group we had the role of collaboration and how it would be display in the school. So we decided to use the L.E.A.P. as a example. Meaning that we as Tech Interns will try to collaborate with the teachers on different ways they can incorporate technology in their lesson plan. By doing so the students would stay in tune with what the teachers is saying, it would make learning fun, and most of all the students wouldn't be afraid to learn new things. Also without collaboration of ideas that we had in my group, we would have never came up with different solutions.

Another cool idea was the digital storytelling. This was my first time doing this, kinda of heard about it. So in my point of view it was very interested to actually bring this whole project together. Teachers always are looking for new ways to make learning interesting and fun. It helps them to illustrate a particular point or subject they may have.

Day 3: Relfection

The third day of training was another informative day for me. Although the social networking part was more of a review for me. I still enjoy the whole idea of maybe incorporating this into the classrooms. I wasn't to enthused by Twitter but I'm willing to look into it. Maybe it can be a better outlook then Face book.

I never heard of 30 second spots so I was kind of hesitant to try this. But I see how this will definitely be a critical piece of knowledge, especially when getting to know the teachers and students. It makes everyone be comfortable with you and give them a idea of why you are there.

I enjoyed the "did you know" video. Very informative information to know about. I will definitely would like to show this to the students so they can be enlighten

Day 2: Reflection

I found this day to be pretty...productive. We once again, worked in groups. Using Windows Movie Maker we came up with a short movie on Time Management. As a group we did run into a few problems with the flip cam, audio, and formatting the files. But as a team we totally did an awesome job. We captured the points of Time Management so that's all that matters. This made me realize that time management can be a critical point  in my success in the Teach Up! program. Having good time management can be beneficial to both the teachers and I.

WOW!!

Goggle Earth blew me out the water, I knew how to use it and concepts. But when I saw that we can change the map into different time frames that was pretty cool. I bet the students would be intrigued to learn more about the different parts of the world. It would make geography, math, and history fun to learn. Maybe this would give a better outlook to the world then the old flat map.

I never used Gmail before but it seem like a cool emailing site. It's good for organizing your personal dates or upcoming events in school. The calendar comes in handy with important appointments, you may have with the teachers.  And the teachers would appreciate that you show up on time.

Thanks to the DOT trainers. Had Fun!! Looking forward to Day 3.

Day 1 Reflection

Day 1: I learned about the different sites/programs like blogging, podbean, and audacity. I can use these tools in the classroom, by helping the teachers find new and update ways to improve learning. I'm looking forward to learning more about different tools that would help not just me but the teachers and students in the schools.
